dmz,
I mean to say that some Joe can think of himself as of jack-of-all-trades and he decides to fix that SRS light on his own. He replaces that naughty LH knock sensor under the hood (but forgets to check the wiring that is almost broken and one of those 3 wires in the connector runs on a single thread only), clears up the DTC in SRS ECU and... He hits a tree and there's no airbag explosion.
How many bucks will this Joe sue from Saab? This isn't just a cup of hot coffee from some McDuck.
Zig
P.S.
I don't mean to say that moving the design to public domain is a completely bad idea. But there must be a way to distinguish that Joe from some Anders or Siegfried (n.b.: names are fictitious) to be found out 1st.
