Car dealers and manufacturer's are not the only ones who screw this stuff up.
I get offers from Saab dealers, Saab, airlines, hotel chains, credit card companies, and rental car companies that don't make sense based on anything that I do. They almost universally use incorrect information, old data about my purchases or habits, get my gender wrong, even spell my name wrong, and typos and grammatical errors are a dime a dozen.
I do marketing communications as part of my business and while nothing I see ever surprises me with how poorly it's done, I continue to be amazed that companies continue to send out stuff when they know (and they DO know) they're using bad, outdated or inaccurate data.
And then they wonder why these campaigns and promos don't work.
