I think you are spot on with all your advise, except I have to chuckle at your notion that the car frame will "stress" if left supported on stands, and that should be avoided. Please don't take offense, but based on your comment I suspect you don't know the first thing about material stress, or fatigue- which is what I think is what you are worried about.
Cars are designed to handle be jacked up and put on stands. Doing so a few dozen or few hundred times over its life will do no harm.
Putting the car on stands will elastically deform the steel frame some amount, but when you put is back on the ground the deformation will spring back to its original position. On the other hand, if you jack the car up and down maybe 50,000 times, then you might start to see some weakening of the steel due to fatigue. Strength reduction (fatigue) is the result of cycling the load on and off many many times. Your car frame is going to see 99.99% of its fatigue cycling from driving it down the road, not putting up on stands once in a while. So don't worry a bit, know that a Aerospace engineer with an M.S. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering told you it is ok to let a car sit on stands.
That being said, I do agree that putting on the car on stands to save the tires is a bit silly if the car is goign to sit 2-3 years. The tires are not likely to be good anymore in that time, especially if they are allready a few years old. However, if I was storing the car for just 3-6 months, I would definately put it on stands to save the tires.
