Owning Jeeps can be as much of a full time diversion as Saab. My family has been through a few. A Cherokee and four Grands. (Each member of the family has had one at some point.) Two of them the rare 1998 5.9L v8. (I'm currently replacing mine.)
Of course they can't haul as much as a minivan or pickup, but if you fold the rear seats down and remove the spare you can fit more than you think.
Also, some factory configurations are much better than others when it comes to suspension, etc. The '98 5.9L only had one setup, it's helped by retrofitting the Upcountry suspension package parts from the standard '98 v8 LTD (which are likely standard back to '96 or '94.) Sway bars, etc can be added.

One Jeep mechanic describes adding auxillary coolers which judging by the failures and wear I've observed over the years is a good idea.
