We bought a Husqvarna (HOP) via Sears last fall, it has a key position that allows mowing in reverse without holding it. Don’t know if it is an older version, but you do have to remember to put it in the proper position, full CCW. At least it lets the user decide about mowing in reverse. From my wiring diagram, the reverse switch closes in reverse, disconnecting the single wire on that switch should do it. Or on the key switch disconnect wire “Lâ€.
The other thing we specifically looked for was ground speed control with a lever. We live on a knoll with some fair slopes, can’t imagine my rather short wife (X farm girl who likes running the tractor) holding her foot steady on a pedal speed control while going up, down and around. The pedal control appears to be another safety item, if you fall off the tractor, it stops. Gee wizz, they already do that with a seat switch, that interrupts power if you wiggle in the seat.
Many if not most manufactures are more than willing to add “safety features†if, by law or lawyers, all their competitors are required to do so. They can all make money by selling noncompetitive items. The customer pays.
