The top drivers all look pretty fit to me. Many of them have been top drivers in other kinds of race cars (Stewart, Montoya, Hornish). Lots of NASCAR is silly, including calling the cars "Chevys" and "Toyotas" when they're all pretty much spec cars with decals. The "debris on the track" cautions are also stupid. However, there is no way that anyone but a skilled, experienced race car driver could take one of those cars through a turn at Indy or Daytona at anywhere near the speeds they do in race conditions. Also, NASCAR includes a few road course races; they are the ones I really like to see. In the old days, the teams would bring in road racing drivers to fill in for the regular NASCAR drivers on those courses, but these days, it's almost all the same drivers, and they do a mighty good job of braking and shifting, using real manual transmissions!
