What a waste of experience and talent- society is diminished by losses such as yours. But the game goes on and you're too young to hang it up- my strong recommendation is in BioMed. The field is exploding with fascinating ideas on the macro and micro scales. And this will continue for at least a generation.
At second place is robotics- industry is being transformed and will continue to be, maybe even making Mfg cheap enough to bring back to the US.
Either may require 6-18 months of training but seems like a good investment.
