Acetone dissolves polycarbonate, and according to the site I link below, polycarbonate "is by far the most commonly used material in the safety
eyewear industry".
I think that mostly refers to the thicker lenses used in eyeglass-type safety glasses (and regular glasses too!), but I suspect the plastic used in a lot of "goggles" is arcylic, which acetone dissolves also.
Just to be clear, I wasn't meaning to say the acetone would eat through the glasses and make it to your skin or eyes. But if drops land on the lens surface it could dissolve it enough to distort the plastic and make the glasses much harder to see through.
