Yeah, I think the problem with VM/Castriota's design was they tried to mix too many things together... there were ursaab cues, sonett cues, 99/900 cues, NG9-5 cues... new Castriota-isms... but the end result wasn't cohesive like the Mini or a Porsche 911 are to their older forms. Basically, Saab has had many forms... but the SPG is the icon. As cool as the concept was, nobody bought the Ursaab, and the Sonett while awesome to those highly knowledgeable about saabs, would not be identified as a Saab by the general public if it were debadged. An SPG would. Love it or hate it. But it's tough to come up with something genuinely new and cutting edge that is authentic to the original without falling into making a throwback caracature... imho Porsche has done better at this than anyone... they are the benchmark!
