I agree that the Volvos have many commonalities with Saabs, and probably that's where we will end up if Saab is for sure done... I'd probably look at Audi and BMW also, but there's a different vantage point that the Swedes have that is a little more practical (vs being the ultimate driving machine). That said, going forward, there may be some question that even Volvo will survive (as we know it anyway)!
Tesla is hugely appealing for a number of reasons beyond the EV element (which I find appealing, though I know many here do not): the form is very much a modern 9000 in my mind... a great combination of practical and stylish/sporty... they've hit the nail on the head with that for me, but I'd like to see how they do in the field... ie how great are they for safety, corrosion, winter capability, etc... those other practical Scandinavian traits we are used to! I'm also not sure about the ergonomics, but I haven't had a chance to sit in one yet... very few of them around here!
And re Buicks, I get what Norm is saying on the value proposition... that it basically bottles up Saab tech in a cost effective premium package... I just can't get around the GM/Buick-isms... I never bought into Saab as a value proposition (though I know to many it was), so that's not really a feature to me... I'd sit in the thing and think "this would be so much better if it had X done the way Saab does it"... "God is in the details!"
