So explain me this - Tesla is rated 89 MPGe (i.e. 89 miles per 33.7 kWh "1 gallon equivalent"). At my house is Dedham, MA I pay about 19c/kWh for electricity. Thus the "1 gallon equivalent" would cost me $6.40 - almost twice the real price of 1 gallon unleaded. I would not call this _equivalent_ at all! So price wise Tesla is only equivalent to ~50mpg for me - same as Prius.
So it is just my town that charging that much for electricity? Does anybody actually pay 11c/kWh that EPA is using to arrive to this "1 gallon equivalent" number?
