I confess that I held onto my old flip phone for years but since I got my smart phone it's been a revolution in ways I didn't expect. Texting saves me tons of time--the nice thing is you don't have to do all the niceties of phone conversation, you can get right to the point using very few words. I'll get a text from a contractor like "I'm coming by at 10:30." I text back "Great." Boom, appointment set. It also gives you a written record of conversations with them. I can text my boss without interrupting him and he answers when he can. But he can also get back while he's doing something else--he might not take my call if he's in a meeting but he can text me. I also use the camera in conjunction with texting more and more. I can now get quotes on jobs based on photos I text. It's great when looking for parts. I'll take a photo of it from a couple of angles, get a close up of the data plate and text it to a supply house. It helps them figure out exactly what it is.The ability too get on line without going to my office is also very useful. Whenever I have to find some esoteric product or type of business it's all right there with directions, hours and any info I want. In addition I have every contact I need right at my finger tips. Don't know how I'd get by without it.
