In addition to those thoughts:
You can see traffic flow on Google maps. (Very helpful in ATL and on interstate drives. For drivers in LA, traffic is always lousy, so maybe no use for them.)
There are a some great apps for getting radar precipitation maps. Incredibly handy during precipitation season.
Camera isn't as good as a dedicated digital camera, but having it in the pocket is awesome when removing parts from a pick-n-pull car (or the car you're working on) to keep a record of how they came out, should go back in, and what wire goes on which terminal.
For a while, maybe a day, I missed using my old Razr flip-phone after I got a used 3GS and swapped the SIM into it. The 5s that I now have is many steps beyond that one was.
Now, it's become an indispensable tool for work when I go out in the field to do inspections or prepare for a design development report. But it's *not* a work tether.
