Real life experiences only, no marketing hype please. What is your regularly achievable distance between rechargings?
We have two Saabs as daily drivers and my wife has only a 8 mile round trip commute. Clearly an electric vehicle will make sense for us when it is time to replace one of these cars. My commute is 75 miles round trip which leaves me with a current choice of only two vehicles which could be used by either of us; a $70K base model Tesla or a $35K Ford Focus. The Focus would be at the ragged end of its 98 mile advertised range whereas the Tesla is advertised as having a 206 mile range.
Since I now work at a Power Plant (without electric vehicle recharging capabilities - figure that one out) there may be added incentives to buy an electric vehicle.
Is the 206 mile range a 110% hyped figure like all other manufacturers? Can you really approach 200 miles at highway driving speeds?
I hope I will have more than two electric vehicle choices when it is time to retire one of our Saabs.
