Of course they were, either GM saw a major flaw in all Saabs that would require a mass recall which world doom the company or the public demand for a Saab was next to nothing. A high priced car with cheap plastic interior.
Personaly I would of thought Saab sales did far better than Buick sales but no it was Saab that was cut and why not Saab and Saturn sound so much alike might as well just cut both, and they did. GM wanted Saab to meet its doom so bad they stepped in and blocked the deal Mullen had set up with China to be co-owners of the brand to keep the car alive. Victor isn't a car guy he's a business man. Sure he has 300,000$ cars he hand makes for the wealthy but the guy knows nothing about mass production, China had the know how to mass produce the 20,000$ car and get the ball rolling.
I'd bet my right arm GM knew Mullen couldn't get the car off the ground and would go bankrupt trying. It would end Saab and victors 300,000$ cars. Soon as GM caught wind China was going to be the driving engine behind Saab in mass production GM canceled the deal with Mullen and killed the brand.
GM wanted Saab dead for a reason. Either they found a major flaw in the car and if the brand names still alive they may be held responsible for a recall but if the brand is dead it's a forgotten relic.
Sales must have been horrid or a comming mass recall, either was its a nightmare for GM and now it's forgotten.
