I haven't cut my cord yet, but do stream videos from our tablet to the TV via a Chromecast on occasion. The TV likely only needs you to plug in an ethernet cable, but it might also have built in WiFi. There is no need for any other hardware. We have ATT Uverse with their 12M down, 2M up service and rarely have problems with enough bandwidth. We typically only have the two laptops, TV and a streaming internet camera that takes up our bandwidth. My brother in FL needed about 2x the bandwidth with his Brighthouse (ie Comcast) service and it's just him.
