I normally don't do the AM drive into Chicago from the East like you will be doing, but I would expect a fair bit of traffic between I-65 and the Illinois boarder. There is a pretty heavy truck traffic going around the tip of Lake Michigan where I-80, I-94, I-65 all come together. Once you get past the I80/94 split it's not too bad unless you are taking I-94 towards downtown.
You could take the I-90 Skyway and avoid some of the traffic, but your going to have to pay a higher toll and get dumped onto the Damn Ryan...I mean Dan Ryan I-90/94 into Chicago. It's a pretty drive if you like skylines, but it can sometimes have heavy traffic when you don't expect it.
If I was doing the drive I'd stay on I80/94 and take the I-294 tristate to I55 and backtrack toward Chicago to get to Midway. At 10-11 AM the traffic shouldn't be to "bad" (for Chicago) anyway you go, except for the stretch between I65 and the boarder.
