For me it is the bailout souring my perception of them since I owed some stock in old GM. Not because of the Saab debacle which to me maybe was not so much GM but everyone else wanting to keep them alive with one or another lofty deal. GM probably kept them alive longer than they had to.
If Saab would have been let die as it was planned, maybe someone had picked up the pieces early on and built something out of it with a better chance instead of this circus Muller created.
I actually thought Ford was going to come out of the crisis strongly since they didn't take any money but sadly they did not and now GM is boosting big numbers again and not having to pay back much.
That misleading full page add couple of years ago was also just another spin on words making them look better. We have now paid it back in full, or something like that making the average Joe think they actually paid back the bailout money in full when they in fact used some other bailout money to pay back a very small portion of another account.
It would have been fun if Koenigsegg would have taken over Saab but maybe he saw the writing on the wall just like Autoliv with the air bags and decided not to be part of it.
