I have many, but here goes, I may have told this before. I was in my late teens early 20s, trying to do an amateur restoration of my '74 Sonett in my employers barn. They were nice enough to let me use the barn but any tools were borrowed from my Dad. I lived only about 2 miles from there, so If I needed a tool I would bring it the next day etc. I think I patched some floor areas and was pulling the engine to do the freewheel and clean the bay. My brother towed the rolling chassis to a Ziebart shop for undercoating with me. MSS exhaust and Weber carb installed, I had quite a little hot rod. One day I had the whole front fiberglass off and no plates on it..looking like a dune buggy. I desperately needed a tool from home to complete what I was doing. Very rural area, so I took the chance and buzzed home down the winding road. Sure enough as I approached the one turn I could see the bubbles of the cop car coming toward me from the next turn, icewater in my veins, I was sure I was really screwed cause this thing stood out like a sore thumb. I slowed as much as I could without braking hard and looking obvious, there was one chance, and he took it, as he turned down the side road between me and him. I was truly amazed at my good fortune. I think I continued home and got the tool anyway!
