We had been using my wife's 2006 9-3 SportCombi for all our long distance travel since it had fewer miles than my 2008 9-5 Aero sedan, and more cargo space. Trying to match or exceed that cargo space number (the 9-3SC has only slightly less cargo space than the 9-5SC), in a garageable size vehicle, was not easy!
Bought a used Subaru Outback with very low mileage since no SAABs could be found. Test drive a V60 but I liked the Outback better. Attitude of the two Dealerships was also a major deciding factor for me.
The local Volvo Dealer suddenly had a low mileage used V60 available, so I test drove it and decided to go forward with the purchase. The problem was that we were leaving the very next day for two weeks of Infant care in Pittsburgh; 4-1/2 hours away.
So I proposed that I place a $10K deposit on the car that day, then return in 15 days to complete the purchase and tske possession. The Salesmsn looked to be 19 years old and as green as they come, so he checked with the Sales Msnager who looked to be maybe 5 years older.
The Sales Manager said No Way! Said the car was in such high demand that he could sell it within a day or so without any delay. Needless to say, it was still avsilable for a week or more after we retured from PTG. Buttheyvso soured me that I decided to keep looking.
