More often than not, my car purchases have been 150-200 miles away (the nearest population center... CA Bay Area).

I find a friend who can drive me to go look at and buy the car after I've done what I can to make sure it really is what I want. I'm always ready to walk away if I learn that it has been misrepresented, but 200 miles doesn't seem like a long-distance purchase to me at all! I'll buy my friend a tank of gas, and lunch on the way to or from.

I've flown to pick up a car twice (~500-600 miles) and have had a car shipped twice (1000 and 3000 miles).

Go pick it up yourself!!! ;o) (Unless it isn't driveable? I would rent a trailer and bring it home myself anyway.)

Out of curiosity, what are you looking to buy to replace the 9000? My 9000 Aero is still my favorite Saab. That one came from MD to CA in 2003. It sold to CO and was shipped.
