Maybe I have some advice on doing something similar. I have a 2000 9-5 wagon and after more than two decades of salt it needed a lot of body work, although it was running well. So I spent the money to have the rear frame rails replaced and fix some other holes in the floor, including the common dogleg rust. Then it needed most of the panels repainted due to clear coat failure including the bumpers. A car that looked terrible cosmetically and would no longer pass inspection due to rust is now back on the road looking great. The cost was definitely more than it is worth but I drive it almost daily now and it is very reliable. If you have someone willing to do the work on the car who knows what they are doing, that’s half the battle. It’s getting harder to find techs who know their way around a 900, especially engine management and electrical, because other things like brakes and suspension are basic mechanics. It can also be difficult finding parts for any Saab, especially the older ones. I helped a friend get hoses for a 900 steering rack rebuild and it took some detective work. But the hoses were available new, Chinese and Mexican made, and the Saab tech said they went together very well and they looked well-made and even included the o-rings. The cost could be even more of an issue in Canada and rust is also your common enemy. Good luck but there’s nothing quite like getting an old Saab back on the road, and the new cars available are not too exciting with a few very expensive exceptions,
