From a Jeep/Saab guy....my opinions Posted by Andrew [Email] (#1013) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Andrew) on Thu, 19 Apr 2001 18:49:51 In Reply to: Thoughts on Volvo V70 XC (Long), MPY, Thu, 19 Apr 2001 01:08:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
FYI: one of Jeep's upgrades for '01 was to put child seat anchors on the Grand Cherokee and Cherokee. If she's crazy about the Jeep, and honestly I can't blame her as it's a great vehicle, Jeep is offering up some awesome deals on '01 Grand Cherokees right now. Think $6k off of list on a brand new 4x4!
If she's not into another Jeep, I'd also skip out on the Volvo. Frankly, if you want four wheel drive in a wagon, Subaru and VW offer much nicer cars. Hertz rents Volvo V70 XC wagons from some of its locations, so you might want to see if they do that here in Dallas. The Subaru, especially with that new H6 engine and their skid control, is an excellent choice. It's truly a beautifully built car, and nobody can beat Subaru for AWD. While I'm not into the restyled '01.5 Passat, it's a fine car. Has a great tiptronic and the 2.8, while not the most refined engine in the VW lineup, furnishes great power.
For Volvo sales, I know that Nils Seifeldt (sp?) is known for their great deals. For Subaru, I'm not sure, and for VW, check out the VW Store on Central. It's owned by Scott Ginsburg of radio, Porsche/Audi Store and Voltaire restaurant fame.
Please let me know if you have other questions.
