My phone rings at least once a week and my mailbox is jammed with all kinds of 'offers' from them.
You're right, they don't like people who pay off their balances OR understand credit. They keep trying to sell me their 'credit protection services'. They don't care for it when I point out that it doesn't protect ME, it protects THEM in the event I have an unpaid balance, and besides, I never carry a balance on them.
Credit reporting sucks, it's very inaccurate and can have a VERY negative impact on your financial. And, as you are discovering, it can be next to impossible to correct inaccurate info.
My cousin is winding up a 9 month court battle, he was the victim of identity theft (by my other cousin, great guy) and was on the hook for about 10K that wasn't his responsibility. He went to court, sued his brother, and won, all judgements dropped. SFW said all the credit reporting agencies. I'm not sure what the resolution to this will be, all I know is his life has been HELL and he hasn't been able to make a move financially since this whole ordeal started.
Makes ya wanna pay cash for everything.
