Loved the engine. You could feel it was limited, though -- although it revved willingly, the ECU definitely cut in to make sure power was frustratingly linear instead of exponential (which is why I bought my current Viggen -- much more exponential and frightening power!).
The V6 Passat was too heavy feeling; the 1.8T (even in 150hp form) felt better suitewd to the car, but only with manual transmission -- I;ve driven and ridden in autobox 1.8T's, and they're terrible. Sluggish, poorly matched to the turbo's power band, and they bog the engine at idle into unseemly vibrations.
Plus the 1.8T is easily chippable to greater performance levels.
Not as good as the old 2.0T in the 9-3 or the 2.3lpt or HOT, but a fun little engine nevertheless.
