You do NOT want a 1.8T right now.
I thought that my 2002 GTI 1.8t would be the last car I would ever drive, I was wrong.
In the last 12 months of ownership it's been in the shop 12 times for everything from a 1/4 inch of water on the passenger side floor, to a bad wheel bearing at just 12,000 miles.
And just last week i had my first of the dreaded coilpack failures.

It's such a common & serious issue that the thread linked above has been "stickied" by the board admins to the top of the forum.
I'm actually on this site because I'm planning on regretably jumping the VW ship very soon, and Saab's seemed to have a similar culture & sporty styling. I've been a VW lover for a LONG time. My last 3 cars were dubs, but they've lost my business, and I can only hope you heed my tale of warning.
