I find these postings interesting. I have lived as an adult (ie., while owning my own car) in three states: Florida, Georgia and Delaware. You cannot get your emissions system repaired at the same location you have the emissions checked in those states either.
For a reality check, my gas bill in the Summer averages over $30 a month if I even sneeze at a hot water tap and they run well over $200 a month in the Winter. This year they are running even higher since we are having a cold Winter.
Electricity runs about $150-$200 a month during a hot Summer. I am currently paying around $1.70 a gallon for premium gas, my yearly insurance premium is $890.00 and I wonder why the new guy in California is complaining so much. I am 44 years old with no accidents or tickets. This is for full coverage and it is not much less than what are poster is complaining about.
In Georgia, you pay county ad valorum (spelling?) taxes on your car every year. In 1993, I paid about $360.00 to register a 1988 Legend for a single year, but this was in the Atlanta area where property tax rates are high.
I cannot wait to get out of Delaware and I am hoping to move back to Florida or Atlanta later this year. I can keep the top down more of the year down there and the roads are in better condition. As far as other diffences in climate, you don't have to shovel rain.
