Yes, something definitely used to click for a few seconds after a cold start, but I haven't heard it lately. I'll listen carefully tomorrow. Maybe the lack of clicking (presumably from the oil filter bypass valve) is related to my changing over to M1 0W-40 which has different cold flow characteristics?? The oil filter installed now is another SAAB OE, same as was installed before by the factory.
The dissected oil filter did not have much gunk in it, looks like it would be able to withstand 10,000 miles quite easily! Kinda wish the bypass valve was at the baseplate though. But maybe this doesn't really matter? Who knows..
Oh, and wow, you're having the SAAB 0W-30 analyzed too? Thanks! Any VOA of M1 0W-30 at Bob's? Should be interesting to compare the two.
I gotta get a sample of M1 0W-40 over to Blackstone, to compare with the others posted at Bob's. Conflicting data on that oil.
I'm guessing that my 9-5's factory fill was a xW-30, based on the UOA, but others insist it's a 0W-40 (non M1) synthetic, which looks to me, that it sheared quite a bit!
Thanks,
Jason
