GOOD JOB! I never had the urge to cut open a "used" one...
" Additionally, Purolator makes the Motorcraft FL-400S for Ford, which has the exact same dimensions as the Purolator L20195, but with these improvements: a) a silicone anti-drainback valve (like the PureOne), and b) a bypass valve located at the baseplate end (The PureOne's bypass valve is at the "wrong" dome end (dome), just like the L20195)."
1) The Mann bypass valve is also at the "wrong end".
2) Walt Kneizel, who not only cut open oil filters but disassembled and measured them, reported Ford filters as made by "Champion." I have no idea. Anyway, Walt liked the Ford filter.
3) Where did you get that English PF-53? They've been replaced in the USA for a couple or three years by a USA "equivalent" (which isn't).
4) GM's internal doucmentation of performance tests of Premium Oil Filters, back when they made their "Gold" filter, generally showed the Purolator Pure One to be the second best of the filters.
