Interesting stuff, I wonder why some engines are spec'd for bypass valves with higher psi, and others are not? I guess it has to do with the strength of the oil pump, and other considerations.
In any case, Greg is right on the money, the Motorcraft FL-400S has the same psi setting as the normal SAAB filter.
For those of you who find the Motorcraft FL-2005--I wouldn't try this one on a SAAB! It's the same size as the FL-400S, but the bypass valve setting is much higher, iirc, something like 21 psi.
The FL-2005 is for a high performance Ford DOHC 4 banger, while the FL-400S is for the SOHC version of that engine.
Now, as for oil pressure differences, it's true, a larger filter could affect the pressures, but what's even more remarkable to me is that different brands of the same sized filter could have drastically different output oil pressures as well!
