We have friends who had a 2006 era Impreza with the same problem. It was going to be costly to fix so they traded it in on a new Subaru... they all seem do that! I joke that Subaru owners are lemmings, but admittedly I keep buying SAABs even though stuff has broken. It's probably good that Subaru has a similarly enthusiastic following...
It may be a solved problem now though. I hope so. On paper anyway they are appealing cars. They have not connected with me from a driving perspective, but they are fairly practical in our climate.
