I swear they outsell Honda locally (probably not, but they are everywhere)... Cost of an Outback with leather seats is comparable to a Volvo or SAAB wagon around here also (and base model not far behind).

We recently bought another 9-5, and the sellers were replacing it with a Subaru. They liked the 9-5 better, but it was just a case of needing something newer... I often wondered if SAAB had got the 9-3X out sooner (more important than NG9-5 imho) and marketed well, if it might not have been a big seller. It really ticks most of the boxes people buy Subies for around here and cost was comparable, at least for a similar feature set. Perfect for outdoor (winter!) sports enthusiasts: raised just a touch, XWD, turbo, wagon... I guess similar to the A4 Allroad also... 9-3X was case of too little too late, but definitely a car I would have liked to own. Not many on the used market though, so probably will never happen!
