The A6 isn't quite as anemic as some here have said. As for gas mileage, it's EPA rated at 26/17 for the 2.8l and 25/17 for the 3.0l.

As for reliability, I have had fewer problems with my VWs and Audis than I've had with my Saabs. Electrical problems were prevelant in Audis that were built before 1989. Since then, they've been VERY reliable.

The A6 is beautifully built and Quattro was, until VERY recently, world renowned as the best AWD system ever made. Quattro is STILL banned in several rally races because it is STILL deemed an unfair advantage. Quattro with all-season tires is superior to FWD with snow tires. I don't care what anyone here will say or argue, it's a FACT!! I've personally towed my Saabs out of seemingly bad situations with my Audis. Please understand that these experiences are FIRST HAND and that I OWN BOTH Saabs and Audis. Subaru AWD systems are fair, but, Quattro is far superior.

The A6 is a VERY good car and is VERY reliable in all aspects - and once you've driven Quattro in the winter, you'll be astounded. As for concerns about power, no, the A6 isn't as fast as a 9-5, but, it's still very competant and is definitely not a 'slug.'
