In general, I'd agree with these sentiments except:
1. The A6 2.8 is slow. 200hp lugging around 3600+ pounds does not make for a quick ride. Are we talking original VW Beetle slow? No. But a 0-60 time somewhere in the 7.5+s range, and, well, not very good passing times, it ain't quick. Totally acceptable transportation, mind you, but not quick.
2. Saying Quattro is universally superior to Subaru AWD is a terribly unqualified statement. Subaru has patents on something like 20 distinct AWD systems, and they've got three (two of which are available on every car they sell) in production today. Quattro is quite good - and certainly was way ahead of its time - but AFAIK Subaru's systems meet Audi's head-on in a bullet-point comparison, and have one big advantage of being universally lighter in weight. Modern Subaru AWD weighs about HALF of what a Quattro system weighs, and that's worth something, especially if you don't fancy lugging around AWD parts on dry, paved roads all the time.
My $0.02, YMMV...
