Where do you live & what are the roads like? Why get a daily driver vehicle for a situation you may never or rarely need & be stuck with all the downside, when a little planing can get you around it. It would seem to me that in most cases (not all obviously) if the routes out are impassable to a decent car, they would be impassable to even the best unmodified SUVs/trucks/jeeps... you'll just get stuck further down the road or have too much confidence & get yourself stuck.
Best defense is to get out early and a car with lots of carrying capacity, a decent tank size and good gas mileage so you can go far between fill-ups or can last long stuck in any traffic jams, (sounds like a car you already have). At least that was my parents philosophy when I was growing up in Florida with Hurricanes.
