sounds like your best bet, but borrowing thing is your problem there.
IF you truly need to get through 2' of standing water, you're looking at something with a lift kit, right? I can't imagine that being your wife's (not-quite) daily driver.
Should be plenty of old big Broncos or Blazers around that you could lift, w/o the pickup borrowing issue.

I took my 1971 Mustang through a flooded street a couple hundred feet, with "The Great Flood of 1982". Had a water line about halfway up the radiator, got a big kick out of my "wake". Made it through, got the brakes dried out, headed on my way to work. Pretty proud of myself. Not so much the next day when I had to replace the starter and poured water out of the bad one. Doh.
not sure he would have given me a push, had I got stuck
