Sorry, responding a bit late. About Volvo, I know there are similarities in the sense of ergonomics, safety, a kind of "restrained luxury" but as far as the driving experience I thought they were almost night and day! That probably applies to classic examples like the 240 and og900, in later years the distinction may have blurred. I mostly meant the oomph, the "thrown back in your seat" feeling, the turbo madness, the effortless "gliding through the air" that Saabs provide when I asked my question.

Talking about reliability, the Honda-like reliablity, if we can make that comparison at all, only applies to the later 9-3 (after 2007) and 9-5 (after 2004). From what I understand the early models especially 9-3 were extremely problem riddled.

I appreciate everyone's comments. I've been researching the Audi twin turbos and VW turbos but I guess the bottom line is nothing drives quite like a Saab.
