I came up with the same thing, although of course the timing chain tensioner is an easy-ish DIY without any real disassembly. If I'd ended up with an earlier car and no certainty the tensioners had been replaced, I'd have done it myself for sure.
I'll definitely keep everyone posted on the experience. It's always nice to have a guinea pig, and I'm happy to be it this round. :)
FWIW, when I was shopping (and looking at a 7er and casually an S-class) it was readily apparent these super high-end cars don't tend to be used the same way cheaper cars are. It's easy to find a 10 year old Saab with a couple hundred thousand miles on it, but truly high-line cars tend to be driven less it seems. Amongst the cars I looked at, my '03 has somewhat high miles at 105k. Most of them were in the 70-80k range. Hard to say what true longevity is like for sure as a result, but since my annual needs are very modest I think it's unlikely I'll ever find out.
