Here is a link from a review by Motor Trend stating iron bock in 2012 review. Volvo never put it in their press releases so the journalist never reported it, very sly. Anyone with a turbo-4 today is on the curve where the Japanese are holding out with their V6's that are less efficient than a similar turbo-4 with matching torque.

My Veranp 2.0T with 6MT saw 37 mpg over 1,000 miles on PA-80 with elevations at the highesy point on I-80 east of the Mississippi. Temperature were around freezing and the cruise set 5+ at 70 mph. The direct injection and variable valve timing really help significantly.
