I just wanted to say that tuning can be a verry dificult job at times. this can be do to pre existing issues with that arise durring tuning or unrealistic expecttions on the part of drivers
then there are just some posters who are out to put folks out of business :-( & even make stuff up if they need to in order to spread a negative slant
we as tuners spend hours & hours on the phone with folks trying to solve problems with cars most of which have allways been there but just dident show up much till the car was tweaked
engine management like T7 is dificult to work with as there are several fuel maps, ignition maps, air mass maps, torque maps & boost maps which need to be manipulated verry acurateley to get the desired result there are many possible problems which can cause overboosting, underboosting, leaning out, pre ignition, missfiring & all kinds of problems.....
I had one guy stick with me for 5 months while we (me & his tech) worked out a friggin plethora of bizarre problems which turned out to be the car all allong, (hard to diagnose over the phone or at a short weekend saab gathering) he ended up coming here from new york & letting me solve the problems here (cams off a tooth, rocks & dirt in the WG actuator & bizarre boost leaks) & I really apriciate him sticking with me on that (Al Hajar with his 9-5) Ive had other folks not be nearly as cool & have given back money when I really dident need to
Ive also taken a beating on forums from folks who I know are like 18 or 19 years old who I knew had no real understanding of the situation they were posting untruth about setup & results of my setups leading potential customers to either un realistic ideas of what their cars might do or to my values or abilities as a tuner
I had my car dyno here 380 WHP & have problems arise which cost me 110BHP at SOC where my car only made 270WHP I sure as hell dident want to break my car 15 hours from home & frankly was exhausted from the trip up there & little sleep before then helping a friend of mine all night the night before who dosent even run my SW :-) but probably makes 360WHP or more.
I did dyno my car a week ago & it made 382WHP & 375 ft lbs at the wheels :-)
this is a tuff business I have been in contact with the folks at nordic for many years now & think they are great folks, they have been in this business longer then I have & I know they have struggled with the same sort of dificulties I have typed above & mabey worse.
I think they are a good group of people whom I have allot of respect for
I know for a fact that these folks will to their best to be of help, I also know that Nick T is a good guy & does his best too :-)
I dont really know maptun that well but Im sure they & frank of SQR do their best when tuning & to help folks when they are having problems
I guess what Im saying is when you read a bunch of negative posting about a perticular problem with a customer dont read too much into it because you really dont know who is posting & why but look for trends of aproval or disaproval
a person in anger with can have a big financial impact on a business, I think if you really have tried to work things out with your tuner & really dont think things worked out well that its a good idea to let folks know while continuing to work things out, there is a definate line between posting an expierence & slandering a business
I think Scott Patterson tries as a moderator to maintain this line & keeps things positive
I have seen allot of problems folks have had posted here but just kept in a respectable tone
I want to say once again that I really apriciate TSN for pushing me to work as hard as I have to learn tuning & produce products for saabs you are a great group of people
TSN rocks for sure
