This post seems to be getting personal -so I might as well give my personal experiences with tuning my 9-5.
The more complex a task is the more opportuities there are to goof-up.
With that an expert is more important - not less.
Taking this point to its extreme - the space shuttle works superbly first time probably 5% of the time. By comparison an old bean can - the Soviet Soyuz worked like an old tractor - got the job done if poorly.
If you want superb work you have to put up with more complexity.
The T7 Saab is a superb design (ie both complex & potentially outstanding).
Now I'll get back to my experience with my 9-5.
I rely on many sources on info in building my opinion about any issue (OK OK I was an auditor once) so I always try to cross-validate whenever possible. Over the years I have juiced up my 9-5 step by step - not particularly following anybodys Stage 1,2,3 etc design to the letter.
Then I asked JAK to ECU tweak my oddball tuning concoction.
My car was definatly a curveball (greased with vaseline)
He not only nailed it first time but cured a left over pre-existing condition left over from an underquality previous tuning (sourced elsewhere.
In my humble opinion - JAK is AT LEAST on par with the best tuners available & head & shoulders over 90+% of them.
