Well, someone was eyeballing my car again. Same person, same car. This time I got the license. Then he got out of his car and tried the lock on my gate to see if it could be openned. That is when I walked up with 2 friends. (It was very early Sunday morning and I was the designated driver.)
We walked across the street, then casually walked in front and behind him and blocked his return to his car. He panicked, tried to say something, and then we let him run away, but we called the cops.
So now the reason for this post:
Is there a way to place the ECU near the key, so it can be removed on my 1988 Saab 900 TC SiS? Will the 4 feet of wire add too much resistance to the system? Are there and ZIF (zero insertion force) sockets for the ECU so repeated removal and replacement don't break the leads? Maybe it is a better idea to get a regular chip socket and make it detatchable as part of a pseudo key fob? Has anyone done this?
Kill switches are easy to bypass. An ECU key fob seems safer, but I worry about the wire resistances over the required 3-5 feet from the kick panel to the key area. I also need to know what the best way is to make/buy the male and female sockets required by such a bypass.
Thanks in advance,
C
