An intercooler is really a heat disperser, so to speak. That's why typically, the bigger and better designed it is, the more efficiently it works to reduce hot intake air. Often the "bar and plate" design is most efficient. And the further away from heat sources like an engine, allows it to cool more effectively, that's why they typically mount them in the front of the car down low so when the car moves the air hits the intercooler firstly, thus reducing heat even more. So any aftermarket intercooler that is larger, better designed, and sits infront of or away from the car's engine will do a better job. They even have intercooler "misters" to aid it's ability to cool itself of all the hot air rushing through it. This is just a simple fyi, don't mean to give a lesson as I know most of us know this stuff.
