I think the classic 900 is especially susceptable to frame/body flex compared to the next gen. 900 or even the much sturdier and rigid 9-3 hatchback. Due to the greater flex in the classics, they have to be really firmed up to get great handling and so ride comfort suffers greatly. A Viggen I test drove for the day was much more firmly suspended and possessed greater frame rigidity, but absorbed road irregularities AND bumps MUCH better than my Classic 900 ever could. My classic felt like a jalopy compared to the Viggen's ride comfort and you don't normally get people talking about "comfort" when it comes to a Viggen with 17" wheels and 215/45 series tires!
When I bought my tires, they pumped them up to 32 psi. I kept deflating them to acheive a more supple road feel. I finally settled on 23-24psi. I don't know how low you can go with 15" wheels though, since I have the 16" wheel upgrade. You didn't mention your wheel and tire sizing. If you change your stock 15" wheels with 195/60 tires to 16" wheels and 205/50 tires, you'll ride even more "rough" over road irregularities (even with 24psi in the tires) but road hugging capabilities are much improved with the 16" wheels! Choose wisely.
