We're changing the rear springs in our 1973 Sonett III, installing stiffer coils from Club Sonett Sweden. These are 15% stiffer, and look like 5/8" diameter coils instead of 1/2". Gaining back 2" of ride height!
Anyway, it's a bit of a challenge to get the spring lined up with its top and bottom isolator plates as they tip with axle lowering. Any tips for this? The bottom isolator of course has the notch, the top no notch but the angle of the two isolators aren't parallel when the axel is fully lowered.
We thought the instructions in the manual were odd: basically do one side at a time; it's a solid axle how are you going to get one side to drop far enough by itself? Turns out, just fine! Disconnect the shock and the limit strap and you can push the axle down another 3-4" even with the other limit strap still on.
