I'm 34 and I've had my '69 Sonett V4 for almost two years, however, I've been in love with this exact car for well over 15 years. I first saw it at my indies garage (a freind of the family as well). He specializes in Saabs and when my dad and myself took his 86 900S in for inspection I saw this 69 V4 in his lot. It was love at first sight. I was in college at the time so I really didn't have a means to buy it even if he wanted to sell it. Anyway, I graduated College (Architecture) and after a couple of years the same friend/mech asked me to do some architectural designs for his house. I did and as payment he offered me the Sonett. I took the deal. It ends up that he had been collecting little parts here and there to do a resto, even though it was in very good shape to start and it had been in a garage for almost 15 years. Now it's getting a full resto on my behalf. I plan to have it on the road in the spring. Just finishing the engine and the body/brakes/suspension are getting cleaned or restored. Can't wait! My daily driver is currently an '83 900T, but this time next year it'll be a 2004 9-2. I'll keep the '83 as it's still very fun to drive and in very good shape.
Cheers and happy motoring!
Sean H.
