You seem to know a lot more about cars than I do, but your assessment
seems right. You know Saab's strengths and weaknesses. Whether it's
worth all the aggravation is up to you. Remember the strengths. And
who else makes a large car with a hatchback, four doors, manual
transmission, with very good sheetmetal and paint, excellent
drivability, safety and security? I don't know of one. BMW has almost
all of those but no hatchback and a much higher price. BMW is rear
wheel drive, which is better or worse, depending on your viewpoint.
Maybe Audi or Mercedes come close, but also at a higher price. Even
Volvos cost more than Saabs. Heck, when you compare carefully,
Volkswagens are closer than you'd like to admit, but I noticed that
even they cost MORE than Saabs on the used market. These are the
reasons I own my third Saab.

I have a 1995 9000CS, 5-sp, purchased 2000 with 99,000 miles.

I had a 1987 9000S 5-sp, purchased in 1991, still driven by my ex-wife,
with 200,000 miles.

I had a 1986 900-turbo 5-sp, purchased in 1993, sold in 1998 with
200,000 miles.
