Steven,

I'm 34 and I've owned, in order, a 1973 VW bug, a 1979 VW Rabbit, a 1985 Saab 900, a 1983 Saab
900 Turbo, a 1990 Saab 900, a 1992 Saab 900S, a 1973 Saab Sonett III, and a 1999 Saab 9-3 Turbo.
The least I've ever paid for a Saab was $985 for the Sonett III and $6700 for the more modern
ones (92 900S). The problems you mention may be 9000 specific, but I have not owned any 9000's.
I've never experienced a floppy sun visor in any of my Saabs are in any of the Saabs I've seen
first hand in the 13 years I've been a Saab owner and enthusiast (and since I began TSN), nor
a slow window motor, nor a plasticky shift-feel. Not that I don't believe you. Go to any car
site and you'll see those same complaints crop up, regardless of make (I know, I spend Friday
nights doing geeky stuff like that to get a feel for content on other car sites with enthusiast
audiences like TSN has). Defnitely had the sagging headliners in all four classic 900's and
the Sonett. I'll also mention dash cracks i!

n all the 900's. My VW's had all kinds of minor annoying problems, but I bought those each
for a few hundred dollars and felt that comes with spending small sums to buy a car I would
drive every day. Did you buy the 9000 for such a small amount with the idea that by saving
a lot of money, you'd have some to invest in keeping an old car running okay? I did this on
my Sonett. I was willing to spend $2,500 to get a Sonett and decided however much I could go
under, I would spend the difference to put the car in a better shape. Boy, that worked out
great. I'm driving the Sonett almost every single day and it hums at 100 mph (only do this
on clear highways). Am taking my wife on a local Saab Club drive this weekend in the Sonett.

Good luck with your Saab.

-Scott
