1986 was the first year of a new model (your 9000) which SAAB could BARELY
afford to produce. Bringing out a new model took all the money they made on
the 900 for years. The car is NOW 15 years old! And you are still driving
it and wondering why things need to be repaired.

I wonder if this was a 1986 Corolla if you would be as critical? I drive
the same car you do. A gray 1986 9000T. I bought it cheap, and had to sink
some sweat equity into it, even though it already had 186,000 miles, and
already had many things replaced (new A/C -- JAPANESE, window regulators --
GERMAN, air mass meter -- also BOSCH, GERMAN, 5 spd. SWISS, and headliner
--ok, SAAB's fault). It's still my daily driver at 250k, and still fun and
fast and I fill it full of junk like a station wagon. I just came back from
a 7,000 mile road trip around the Southwest. I put a nice sound system in
it, and new tires, and I've sunk MAYBE $3,500 total into it since I bought it
three years ago! That INCLUDES the purchase price!

Just in case you haven't looked in the paper lately, that's CHEAP, my friend!
Especially for an exotic, turbo charged, luxury car.

You paid $2,000 for your car??? How much would you have to pay to get a
'reliable' Euro luxury sedan, I wonder?

Go look inside a mid 80's BMW is you want to see a trashy car.

And good luck with the 9000.
