the '99 9-5 and a late model 9K Aero are quite different kind of car.
The '99 9-5 suspension is soft compared to the 9K Aero, but the 9-5 is more of a luxury ride than the 9K Aero. If you think Buick for the 9-5, you actually are not that far off (OK please no flame). The 9-5 is a bit quieter and has a more rigid body than any 9000.
The 9K Aero is sprung hard, and I do mean hard, you feel every bump on the road, but no 9-5 seats can match those Aero seats. If you prefer a cruiser than a Swedish Mustang, then the '99 9-5SE would be your ride. If you don't mind torque steer, a hard ride, and that kick in the back when you floor the pedal, then the 9K Aero is your car.
The 9-5 LPT has an responsive engine, even with an automatic. You didn't mention you want an auto for the 9K Aero or not. If in auto form, the engine makes 200HP, and if manual tranny, the engine has 225HP and 258lb-ft of torque. The 9K in either auto or manual form, can beat a 9-5 in acceleration.
No matter what I or others tell you, the only way for you to decide is to drive both cars.
Good luck in your search.
